Northern Experience Eco Tour to Atherton Tablelands, Waterfalls and Paronella Park Day Tour
Your day starts with early morning hotel pickup where you will be greeted by your local naturalist guide in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle, who has a wealth of local knowledge and history of the area and will also give you an insight into some of the aboriginal culture of the area. We then head south of Cairns were you will be treated to magnificent World Heritage Wet Tropics rainforests of Wooroonooran National Park, being able to swim in waterfalls, travel through the Atherton Tablelands, visiting local must see attractions.
You will take in many panoramic views which will include the Mulgrave Valley, Atherton Tablelands, Farming and dairy pastures, travel up the Palmerstone Highway and learn of early explorers that blazed these roads through Johnstone River Valley with stunning views over Mamu which is the traditional land of the local aboriginal people, see spectacular views of Mount Bartle Frere (Queensland’s Highest Mountain) and the Bellenden Ker Range.
You will see many different species of wildlife from the Lumholtz Tree Climbing Kangaroo, Musky Rat Kangaroo which is one of the smallest and oldest species of kangaroo in Australia, to possible sighting of Green Ring tailed possums, to many species of endemic birds eastern whip birds, Victoria’s rifle birds, Wompoo Pigeons, possible also to see Cassowaries Australia’s largest flightless bird and many more.
We stop at Lake Barrine which is a volcanic lake were we take a cruise to see many species of waterbirds, pythons in the trees, water dragons and much more. Then enjoy a Devonshire Tea.
From here it is then onto the Curtain Fig Tree where you will be amazed at this 700 years Fig Tree that towers over the surrounding rainforest. It is approximately 50 metres tall. There is also an abundance of wild life here as well.
Next stop is Millaa Millaa falls one of the most visited waterfalls in Australia. Falling 20 metres from Millaa Millaa Creek, the waters settle in a calm pool that is easily accessed for a nice cool swim & a photo shoot.
Now it time to see the spectacular Paronella Park, this has a lot of history to it and is a beautiful old castle.

What you need to take
What you bring will all depend on the weather and the season.
Bring Hat, sunscreen, bottled water, swimming costume, towel. Also through our Autumn to Spring it is recommended that you bring a jacket as the Atherton Tablelands are quite cool due to the altitude. Also in our wet season an umbrella is also sometimes handy. Also bring your camera, and some extra cash in case you want to purchase some souvenirs.
